I only started this food blog in February and looking back at the past 10 months, I am pleased that my recipes have garnered so much interest. Based on page views, the following 5 recipes have been most popular with my readers in 2014.
I thought all of my pasta recipes would be the most viewed, but I was happy to see a real mix of dishes in this list. Here goes…
No. 5: Deep Dish Red Pepper Explosion Pizza – Who says tomatoes are vital to a good pizza? Red pepper paste, particularly the one from Olive Branch, is the new tomato sauce. There are no tomatoes on this pizza, just lots of delicious red peppers (red pepper paste, roasted red peppers from a jar and fresh red peppers). A real explosion of red peppers! Throw in some mushrooms, olives, onions and mozzarella and you have a winning pizza.
No. 4: Penne with Ham and Peas in Tomato Cream Sauce – A delicious pasta dish that won’t cost a pretty penne. It’s quick and easy to make. All you need is some ham, tomato sauce, frozen peas, cream and some pasta… so get cooking!
No. 3: Tortiglioni in a Rosé Sauce with Pancetta – This dish can be flambéed and is proving popular with my fearless readers. The pancetta and onions flambéed in vodka infuse the sauce with extra flavour. The creamy tomato sauce works well with some spicy heat… add as much chilli as you like!
No. 2: Cheese and Mushroom Frittata – This thick omelette of Italian origin is perfect for brunch, lunch or dinner. It’s a great way to use up any leftovers. This frittata includes mushrooms, onions, red peppers, cheese and parsley. The ingredients go very well together and lend a beautiful vibrant colour to the dish! Add some red pepper paste from Olive Branch for even more colour.

No. 1: ‘Take It Easy’ Steak and Mash – This is the easiest recipe of the bunch! Take a tasty shortcut by cooking the steak on the Tefal OptiGrill and flavouring the mash with African Garlic, Lemon and Pepper Sauce by Bim’s Kitchen. The secret is to use fresh, high quality ingredients, such as meat from your local butcher or specialty items prepared with love by independent food producers, and let the flavours speak for themselves.
